At the time of election, October 2015, Justin Trudeau, 46, heir of the Liberal Party of Canada legend, his own father Pierre Elliot Trudeau, could not imagine what fate had in store for him one year later when Donald Trump got elected to the White House. In a few months, the new American President has threatened the nature of Canadian economics, its one-way dependance to United States, therefore threatening the very foundations of Canadian welfare.
The advent of Donald Trump has awaken a recurrent debate in Canada. Is this young, bright, politically correct and good looking Prime Minister ill or well prepared to lead a fight of this magnitude ?
Born with a political silver spoon in the mouth, Justin Trudeau, given its name engraved in canadian history, never had to fight for anything before he entered the political world in 2007. One year after his election as Member of Parliament, he discovered Barack Obama’s digital playbook to win an election.
It was an epiphany for him and his team.
Borrowing from the Obama playbook, Justin Trudeau has successfully established himself as a new brand of politician, the «XXIth century homo politicus». By smartly combining the absence of any ideology what so ever, and the power of both data mining and digital campaigning to an extent never seen before, Trudeau has fooled and convinced the majority of Canadian voters to put him where he is today.
But who is Justin Trudeau ? Mr Nice Guy welcoming syrian refugees and celebrating diversity, or your next door politician, signing pipelines, oils terminals or river dams that are systematically wrecking the canadian environment and trampling the rights of Canadian First Nations ?

Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1962, Gilles Cayatte was first and foremost a film-lover, but soon caught up with reality. He practiced all the television professions, in order or disorder, chief editor (long), cameraman (a little), journalist (very little), producer, and finally director. His work is eclectic, as are his tastes. He passes from aeronautics to sport, from sociology to politics to the denunciation of injustices, wars and repressions. Most of his films have been hailed by the press, and many awards have marked his career. After making about fifty documentaries around the world, he is also interested in fiction today. He is elected to the board of directors of the Scam (French Author guild).
